I've been teaching standup in Atwater Village for the past 9+ years, and at USC for 4 years. I pour all that experience into my work and this class. DURING THIS SOCIAL DISTANCING/ONLINE CLASS PERIOD, you will "get up" each class, developing material you feel excited about. It will be authentic and new, and totally you. We will discuss various joke styles/comedians, prompts and challenges, open mic etiquette, creating online content, and next steps. We do this together, in a supportive environment, giving and getting useful feedback, striving and laughing. You will leave with a better understanding of your comedic voice and creative intention, plus oodles of material! --In-person classes (6 weeks, $395) will be back as soon as the experts think it is safe.--
How can I help you?
Stand Up, Storytelling, Public Speaking, Red Carpet, Press Junkets, you name it!
Private sessions meet via Skype, Zoom or FaceTime, until we can meet in person again.
You may add up to 3 additional people to your session, via Zoom.
**After 70 minutes, it is $25/15 minutes. I will let you know when your scheduled hour is up and you can opt to go longer.**
If you're interested in studying with me and would like to see more, come to one of our shows. Each Level 1 session ends with a show. They're free and the shows are a guaranteed good time! If you come, please say "HI", I'd love to meet you and answer any questions you have. See you March 7th at 9pm! -- Shows will be back once we can leave our homes, safely. <3 --
Besides my classes in Atwater, I am a faculty member at USC, teaching four stand up classes in the School of Dramatic Arts and Improv workshops in various engineering and business classes each semester. I continue to grow as a teacher and a comic. I do not teach formulas, exactly. I prefer to ask questions, give prompts, get you up over and over so you can discover and tell me what kind of comic you are, not the other way around. I want to help you be you, to tell the truth, to make a connection. I want to help you create something new.
This is my joy. I don't believe you have to go this alone. I prefer creating comedy together, in a community. I've worked with over 1,200 students now and each group is vibrant and complex, and it's always fun, every single time!
My classes are located in darling Atwater Village, nestled between Glendale, Los Feliz and Silverlake, close to coffee shops and independent eateries. Plenty of metered and street parking available!
